[To a Catholic]Sounds to me like you have pre-decided that what your church tells you to believe is 100% correct.

The fact the bible was translated in several languages spanning different areas of the world. When you translate them back to the original form, they are the same. NO WAY THAT COULD BE DONE WITHOUT DIVINE INTERVENTION.

Also, you have to take into consideration that demons can effect the thinking of so called men of science to deceive them. We already see so many areas that people are deceived in, because they do not accept the truth of the Bible. So if they are deceived and in error in a area we can observe them in, then how can they be trusted in areas that we are not as knowledgeable in?

Stealing is wrong and causes much hardship for the victim. Is it better to lose a hand and repent from this sin or to allow oneself to be drawn by such deeds to the eternal punishment of the Hellfire?

As for dinosaurs--they were around only a few thousand years ago. Let me explain: it was 6115 years ago, give or take about three to five years (I know this because Abraham from the Bible was born 2166 years ago, and all you have to do is add up the ages of ALL the people from Adam to Abraham, which are all listed in the Bible's book of Genesis).

Anyway, the dinosaurs died out slowly in the years following the flood--because they were the biggest animals among the others, and since the flood killed off most of the vegetation on the earth, the largest animals began to die off by lack of food. [But what about the tiny dinos?]

The Ceolocanth was thought to be a fish that was part-dinosaur and was extinct for millions of years, but then they discovered that it's still alive in the Indian Ocean.

The thumb is of remarkable design that allows us to pick things up easily, (it would have been much harder to type this comment if I had not thumbs). If we evolved by chance, how would 'evolution' know that we would be in need of a thumb millions of years down the road?

It seems to me that everything around us--plants, brains, eyes, ears, taste buds, cats, dogs, books, electricity, sunlight, and even the belief in God--is all evidence that there must be a God. After all, a nationwide pole shows that 7% of people in the US are actual atheists, and 47% believe the earth to be created within the last 10 thousand years.

Quote# 3238

I must take a moment to point out that you do not commit the error of circular reasoning when you use the Bible to prove the Bible. The reason is very simple. You see, the Bible is not one book! It is a collection of 66 books written by more than 40 authors over a period of 1,600 years. Therefore, if you quote Jeremiah or Isaiah to substantiate Daniel, or if you quote Daniel to verify Revelation, you are not involved in circular reasoning. Instead, you are quoting altogether independent sources who happen to be bound together between the covers of the same book.

I mean no disrespect Martinm, but: BLA BLA BLA I dont care about [Riemannian] geometry [as it applies to space-time and the Big Bang], I care about salvation. Geometry will do you no good when your standing in front of God and He askes you to account for all your sins. How can you honestly say this world and all its complexities just happened?

The fossils? God knew we would go digging so He planted a few fossils here and there to keep us guessing. Likewise He made the universe out of reach for us. What would happen if our spacecrafts reached a dead-end? We would think that we have outsmarted God.

I will go with the 'fossil planting' to explain this. God presented us with a ready-made earth. Nothing is impossible with God. Maybe He even copied another 'earth' as it was and presented us with the copied version. I feel that you underestimate an all-powerful God. He can snap His finger and make another billion 'earths' appear in 6 days. He can do as He pleases.

[Quoting a random website]Evolutionary scientists believe that man has existed for one million years. Starting with just eight people having 2 children every 40 years, the total population of the earth today would be 10 to the 3000 power. There would be mountains of bones from the trillions of skeletons of those from past generations.
