Quote# 96685

I was a strong supporter of gay marriage until the last few weeks.

Then it hit me that there are many many more problems that threaten society than pushing this issue. The economy, Health care, energy, climate change, labor issues are far far more important than whether gays marry or not. This is certainly not the time to push gay marriage.

So I see those pushing this issue as real selfish and putting themselves over the good of the country. So I'm really reconsidering whether I want to reward this kind of extreme selfish individualistic thinking. I am a strong authoritarian as well.

To be quite frank, if I had lived during WWII and if people put the issue of civil rights over the good of the country, I probably would have had very negative views toward that movement.

Why would an atheist have any concern whatsoever about another human. so what if some poor kid dies that doesn't affect you Its just one less person to get in your way. You just proved you belive in God. Another exsample of a guy claiming to be atheist but living as though theres a God. Atheists don't have feelings moron. Atheists don't matter and are irrelevant by there own admission.? By your own admission your just an accedental piece of garbage waiting to die. This is ametuer hour.

[Regarding books from the horror, fantasy, and science fiction genres.]

I've had experience with some friends that read books like these. I wouldn't say that they were "possessed" however they acted much differently after reading these books. Some of the books that brought about this change did not even appear aesthetically evil until I noticed their effects. Ever since then I've avoided most books at all costs except of course the Bible. It seems to have been doing me some good because I have not been taken over by evil spirits yet.

I was at a picnic today and some of my church friends invited their friends who weren't Christians, and I had noticed a young boy (couldn't have been more than 9 or 10) who was cussing like those were the only words in his vocabulary and spitting on his sister whilst laughing. I tried to witness to him, but as I began to describe "hell" as a place where the wicked are punished, he got upset and scared and went his way. Don't get me wrong...I first told Him about how God loves him and sent His Son into this world to die for us, but as I began to describe the consequences of sin - he hated it. What did I do wrong?

Predictable:

The only gods that create evil are the "designer Gods" chosen by folks that can not tow the line of Christian rules and values.

"Designer Gods" approve of decadence, the real God does not, nor does his followers and believers like representative Michele Bachmann and her constituents.
Go michele!

Quote# 115810

Ever notice how the bad stuff is always black in horror movies? Ever notice how the evil beasts often have red, glowing eyes? Well, is there some rule that says God can’t make critters with red, glowing eyes show up in real life? No, there isn’t, and we need to be ready for these kinds of dramas. The power in a city goes out and suddenly there are black rats with red eyes swarming everywhere in the darkness, viciously attacking people. Such an act combines two elements which we find very disturbing: the spontaneous creation of large masses of critters, and critters acting in atypical ways. We will see God using these two themes over and over again during the end times. Sudden swarms of living things will appear out of nowhere and maliciously attack people. Footage of such events will abound on the internet and, well, it’s going to look like scenes out of a horror movie. Except it won’t be fictional, it will be real, and it will result in a lot of gruesome deaths. As a Christian, how should you respond to these things? And what do you do if you are personally caught in the middle of one of these events? Well, there’s no way to make such events pleasant. After all, when the firstborns were dropping over in Egypt, some degree of heartache was inevitable. But there is a major advantage to understanding that plagues are being controlled, and that the One controlling them is good in Character and acting out of positive motivations.

God is pro-human, and this is an important thing to keep in mind. It’s also important to realize that He is a very purposeful Micromanager. When snakes are raining down from the sky and biting people, your natural reaction is to freak out. But what exactly is it that is spiking that fear? There are couple factors. First, there is the element of spontaneous creation—a boatload of snakes are appearing out of nowhere. Well, yes, God is a Creator of infinite abilities and spontaneous creation is a very simple thing to Him. The second factor that freaks you out is that critters are acting in atypical ways. After all, everyone knows that snakes aren’t supposed to rain down from the sky. Well, frogs aren’t supposed to wander far from sources of water, either, since they depend on moisture to survive. Yet in ancient Egypt, Yahweh made frogs go hopping into homes, ovens, and beds—all of which were dry places. Why? What is going on in that amphibian brain when Mr. Frog keeps trying to hop onto the lap of some screaming, flailing woman? Who knows? God controls everything that He creates. It’s a very simple thing for Him to instantly create millions of frogs that all feel compelled to leave the comfort of the Nile River and go hopping over to where the humans are. It’s a simple thing for Him to suddenly turn hundreds of pet dogs against their owners without warning. One minute, Fluffy the poodle is sitting peacefully by your side, the next minute she’s snarling rabidly and trying to tear out your jugular vein. We are not in control of the created world—God is, and a fabulous way for Him to flaunt His supremacy over all things is to suddenly cause large masses of critters to act in atypical ways.

(In response to being told that there were gays and lesbians around when she was young.)

There's a reason they say "ignorance is bliss!" It was nice back when it wasn't shoved in our kids' faces. My daughter had "one" for calculus at The University of Texas and I was visiting and sat in on her class one time. Talk about being totally clueless- not only did I have not a clue about the math being taught, having studiously avoided as much math as possible in my own college career, but now this he/she/it is up there teaching it. My daughter liked the person and thought it was a good teacher. Just stranger than hell to me, but it's a different world.

I have always believed that George Bush was so 'demonized' by the press...simply because he is a Christian. He has his faults...but long ago, before he became President...he was on t.v with James&Betty...and he gave his testimony...and it brought me to tears..he told of the exact moment he gave his heart to Jesus... it wasn't scripted, or contrived..it was sincere..he talked about his drinking days as well...he is a man of morals...and he prays to the same God I pray to.....to be a true born again President is to bring the wrath of the unsaved minions of politics...I am only sad that this bill won't last past the inauguration of the 'messiah'.....I can see a time when if you refuse to do an abortion...you will be imprisoned...Obama HATES babies.

(in a thread referencing Obama's leaving war crimes prosecutions open to possibility)

This is very, very disturbing to me. These government officials kept us safe by utilizing unconventional methods of interrogation on enemy combatants. These accusations of "torture" are coming from the fringe left who are rabid in their hatred for the Bush administration. They're not seeking justice; they're seeking revenge. God, give us strength. We're witnessing the demise of America on every level.
