Comedian and host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight John Oliver slammed televangelists on Sunday for their greed and extortion as they enjoy mass wealth as a result. To mock the government’s absence of regulation, Oliver started his own church, called “Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption,” naming himself “megapstor” and CEO.

Looks like Oliver struck a nerve. On Wednesday, Christian minister Jennifer LeClaire said Oliver shouldn’t “mock what you don’t understand,” calling him a “false reverend.”


LeClaire, who operates the Awakening House of Prayer, admitted there are abusive churches. But she does believe in the concept of “seed faith” — the idea that giving money to a church will result in returns for the giver.

“[W]e have to be careful not to paint everyone who believes for an airplane or sows a seed to get out of debt as a heretic,” she writes.

Oliver’s segment hilariously skewered preachers whose fantastic displays of wealth come at a large cost to parishioners who they compel to donate what little money they have. They tend to believe in the conveniently self-serving idea of prosperity as a sign of God’s favor.

“I do believe in supernatural debt cancellation,” LeClaire writes. “And I don’t believe we should mock so-called prosperity preachers, even if we don’t believe they hear from God. Nor do I believe we should insinuate that God is cursing at them, as Oliver did.”

These preachers, like Robert Tilton, Mike Murdock, Todd Coontz, Henry Fernandez and Creflo Dollar, live in multi-million dollar houses, take lavish vacations and own private jets while they instruct followers to go beyond their financial means to give them donations.

In a seven-month correspondence with Robert Tilton, Oliver was able to reveal that the church was basically a predatory financial scam.

This is important to your question because it was a commonly held idea that life initially came about on earth by chance form atoms assembling to form molecules and proteins, cells, to reproducing life by random chance over an infinite amount of time, over an infinite amount of rolls of dice on a seemingly infinite number of earth-like planets. We now know that time is not infinite. And neither is matter. There are very strict requirements for the existence of life in the expanding universe, and our Earth in our 21st century is extremely lucky in that regard. Yes, we are star dust. Flourine in our bodies can only form as dust from a dying star is pulled off by the gravity of a nearby dying star, and a third planet is around to cross the path of this star dust. There are an estimated 41 of fine tuned conditions like these that are needed for life to exist on a planet. A chance in a billion trillions.

This is crucial because, like seeing an exploding grenade and asking, "who pulled the pin?", we are asking, Who or what caused this????

And the answer is, if there is a cause for the Big Bang and the beginning of time, space and matter, and life itself, it is GROSSLY INTELLIGENT.

The total mass of the universe acts as a catalyst for nuclear fusion. The more massive the cosmos, the more efficient nuclear fusion. If the Universe is too massive, the basic elements Oxygen, Nitrogen and Carbon could not form. If the Universe was too small, we would be stuck with only Hydrogen. But the Universe is exploding from a miniscule beginnings of an immensely immense mass. The time for life to form is exactly now. Its taken 14 billion years. Now, the exact position and mass of a billion stars allows life to form on this miniscule planet. OUR life. Hence... the Creator is loving since the price He paid for life to form on earth can be seen in the brilliance of a billion stars in the night sky. Just as Abraham gazed at the night sky and conversed with God, leading him out for the Promised Land.

Duggar's actions are sinful, but this doesn't mean that homosexuals are free and clear before God, or that Marriage has changed from being what God intended -- a life long union between one man and one woman.

One thing that seems to be pushed into the shadows is the criminal actions of the people who hacked this site. While the site stands for something completely sinful, this doesn't give anyone the right to hack it or other sites of this nature. Two wrongs don't make a right. These people should be tracked down and punished for their breach into anothers property.

Good question. I have a four part answer to this which demonstrates that pants always pertain to men, even today.

1. "Breeches" were an article of clothing designed by God for the priests who were all men. The word does not occur very often in scripture, but in every case it’s men’s apparel (Exodus 28:42, Leviticus 6:10, 16:4). According to my Hebrew lexicon, "breeches" means "trousers that extend to the knee, below the knee, or to the ankles." This would include pants, shorts, or culottes.
2. Until the advent of Hollywood and the movie screen, everyone (including lost people) knew that pants were men’s apparel and dresses were women’s apparel, and they dressed accordingly. Our culture’s (and sadly most churches’) acceptance of cross-dressing has resulted largely from the influence of television, the placement of women in the workforce, and the pressures of twentieth century feminism.
3. The universal symbol for designating a men’s bathroom is a stick figure wearing a pair of pants. The universal symbol for designating a woman’s bathroom is a stick figure wearing a dress. Coincidence? Hardly. Even our sinful society recognizes that there is a difference in a man’s and woman’s clothing.
4. Pants are a symbol of authority, as evidenced by the saying " I’m the one who wears the pants in the family." Sadly, most women might as well wear the pants, since they rule their homes anyway!

It is unscriptural for men to shower naked around other men, let alone in the presence of young boys. This Scripture passage makes this clear. It is not good for men to see each other naked, as evidenced by the pederast homosexual problem. The Romans were infamous for pederasts (men having sex with boys). There is nothing manly about men disrespecting one another by walking around naked in the shower room. It is proper and right for men to show respect for the body, and toward their fellow mankind, by clothing the body. It is more than coincidence that initiates into Luciferian occult groups are required to perform acts of homosexuality as part of their initiation rights. The purpose for this is to debase each other, removing all bastions of decency and reservation between one another. In all sexual relations, even if with a prostitute for a few minutes, a soul-tie is formed between the two people (whether male or female) involved in the act. This is one of the spiritual dangers of sexual immorality, which undermines one's entire soul's health. Proverb 6:32, “But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.”

I heard an internet radio commercial today advertising the product, “AGELESS MALE,” guaranteed to boost testosterone for men by 61%. Then the advertiser said, “Get back in the game!” That's not why I wrote this article, but the timing was perfect for this article, because it evidences the sinful and irresponsible attitude of society today toward sexual relations. Get back in the game??? Sadly, sex is a game to many people!!! This is the horrible consequence of America's sexually-indecent television programming, promiscuous sitcoms, perverted Late Night comedy shows and TV in general.

I don't watch TV because it is too evil. So when I do occasionally see a TV show on someone else's TV in a hotel or at a restaurant, I am absolutely shocked and angered by what I see and hear. If you watch TV all-the-time, you won't see just how evil it is, because you are sinking into the abyss of wickedness with the hellivision. I guarantee you that if you turn off your television for 6-months that you'll be absolutely shell-shocked when you turn it back on. I hate TV!

It is common practice in health clubs, YMCA's and locker-rooms across America for men to shower naked in the presence of other men, and to walk around naked and let it all hang out. It is uncouth, tasteless, lacking of respect for each other and unscriptural. The same is true of women's locker-rooms. Historically, sports and public nudity have always been synonymous. The Greeks were famous for sports and infamous for nudity.

Genesis 9:21-27 teach us several important life-changing and moral lessons. We see that alcoholic beverages are spiritually dangerous, linked to nakedness and sin. Noah sinned by getting drunk and led his son to sin by doing so. Don't think that Noah didn't think about that either. Noah had to live with the division created between him and his son because of booze. Alcohol brought shame upon Noah. Noah had to live from that day forward knowing that Ham saw him naked and drunk. Although Noah knew he was forgiven in Christ, he caused permanent division between he and his son, Ham.

We also see that Ham sinfully paraded his father's sins, instead of faithfully concealing the matter. America's history books, Wikipedia and newspapers are filled with what husbands and wives have hypocritically said about each other during and after a divorce. The next time you hear a woman talking about how evil her husband is ask her how she obtained perfection. The Bible warns against condemning anyone. James 4:12, “There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?”

By the way, I hate Wikipedia. I've noticed that celebrity profiles (like George Clooney) are locked, but gospel preacher's profiles are open for every snake, rat and God-hating trash to slander and serve roast preacher. Wikipedia is a sewer of American society and Jimmy Wales will give account to God for helping spread malicious gossip. Wikipedia is a weapon. It's easy for some worm who never built a hot-dog stand to throw rocks at a faithful preacher who gave his life to others in the Lord for 50-years, helping literally millions of people in so many ways and changing a nation for God.

When he was four years old, he began to exercise his spiritual power, and his parents began to fear him. When he was six years old, his father brought him to some witches for them to train him. And by the time he was ten years old, he was doing tremendous exploits for the kingdom of the devil. He was feared by the common witches.

He was still a young boy, but he was so terrible in the things he did. He grew to be a young man in his twenties with a lot of blood on his hands. He killed at will. He had the ability to leave his body through transcendental meditation. And he could levitate; at times his body would rise off the ground and hang in midair. Sometimes he would go into a trance and leave his body; his body would remain behind while he went out into the world, by a practice called “astro-travelling.” He was used by satan to destroy or divide many churches, and to ruin many pastors.

One day, he was assigned to destroy a church that was full of prayer. There had been much division in this church, and much confusion. He began to work against it, but at that time, the pastor called a fast for the whole church. As the church began to fast, there was much repentance and a lot of reconciliation. The people came together and began to pray for the Lord to work in their midst. They continued interceding and crying out to God to have mercy on them and to intervene in their lives. As the days went by, the man came again and again against the church with demon spirits. But a word of prophecy came forth telling the Christians to rise up and wage warfare against the powers of darkness that were attacking the church.

So one day, the man left his body in his room to go astro-travelling. He led a powerful force of demonic spirits against the church. Now this is his testimony: His spirit moved through the air over the church and tried to attack it, but there was a covering of light over the church. Suddenly, an army of angels attacked them and fought against them in the air. All the demons fled, but he was arrested by the angels.

Yes, arrested by the angels! He found himself being held by about six angels. They brought him through the roof right before the church altar. He just appeared there as the people were praying. They were deep in prayer, engaged in spiritual warfare, binding and breaking and casting out. The pastor was on the platform leading the prayers and the warfare. The Spirit of the Lord spoke to the pastor, "The yoke has been broken, and the victim is there before you. Help him through deliverance." As the pastor opened his eyes, he saw the young man lying there. His body was with him; he was in his body. The young man said that he doesn't know how his body joined him; he had left it back in his house. But there he was in his body. He didn't know how he had entered it; all he knew was that the angel had carried him through the roof.

Now these things are difficult to believe. The pastor silenced the church and told them what the Lord had spoken to him, and then asked the young man, "Who are you?" The young man was trembling as the demons began coming out of him. So they prayed for his deliverance, and afterwards he began to share his story. The young man has now come to the Lord, and is an evangelist preaching the gospel. He is being used by the Lord mightily in setting other people free through deliverance.

It is disappointing how inaccurate this review is. A notable thing that this blogger typed out was that the straight couple in the convenience store was harassing the homosexual couple. That did not happen. Secondly, the blogger twists many of Ray's and Peter's words to make them sound like hateful pieces of trash. That was expected. The biggest thing I noticed is that the blogger says that Christians have this weird idea that speaking out against homosexuality gets you more oppressed than if you didn't. My friend, I'm not sure if you keep up with statistics, but the number of people who support same-sex marriage in this nation has risen to around 56%. Whether you want to believe it or not, true Bible-believing Christians are a very small minority. God help this nation. To be clear, I am not exactly Humphrey Bogart myself. I grew up to be even less of a man than I thought I would. I don't go to office. I don't wear a suit. I don't go to see the philharmonic, smoke a pipe or wear pajamas. I have not read one book about the Civil War. Instead of disciplining my son, I explain why his misbehaviour won't get him ahead in the world. My son is two.

What I didn't figure on, however, was that the rest of my generation would mature even less than I did.

I am a grown man and I am regularly asked by other men - some of whom are 40 or older - if I've seen movies about the Hulk, Captain America and Thor. Some of these men proudly tell me they frequent comic-book stores. People are aghast when I don't know current rules governing vampires and zombies. I go to dinner parties where I am served cupcakes. Every time I'm excited about a new restaurant opened by one of the world's most talented chefs, I find out it is selling burgers, pizza or hot dogs.

I live in a society in which childless adult couples see Pixar movies on dates, get married inside Cinderella's castle at Disney World, play Angry Birds on their phones and read The Hunger Games. Dad I know go to Phish concerts where they do drugs, dance pass around giant balloons and listen to fucking Phish. One guy I know who has a great job and a great wife also has a great life-size Star Wars Stormtrooper in his screening room. Even before the Great Recession, it was totally normal for people to live at home for a few years after college and then, after moving out, remain on their parents' cell phone plan.

In no society in history would I be an acceptable adult: I write penis jokes (almost) for a living, can't fix anything in my house and have a vocabulary that consist mostly of the words cool, awesome, psyched and bummer.

Modern popular culture is even worse than reality. Sure, the heroes of Judd Apatow movies mature, but they clear a pretty low bar: Seth Rogen gives up pot to raise his baby; Jason Segel gets married after five years of engagement; Steve Carell hides his collectible toys to lose his virginity at 40. If our grandfathers could see us, the wouldn't beat us up. They'd spank us.

We are indeed the softest generation. If we'd have to fight WW2, we would have come up with reasons the Germans weren't that bad. That's right: We have become so soft we're French.

To be clear, I am not asking men to be History Channel reality-show stars- hunting, camping, heli-logging and doing other things that don't have much to do with history. I just want them to read a book without wizards in it, listen to a song that isn't about going to a club and sometimes wear clothing other than jeans. It's gotten so bad that even the president of Iran doesn't wear a tie. And Iran is not casual country.

This extreme childishness wear better on women who can get away with cutesiness longer than we can. Sure, they can go too far and wind up as one of those ladies who go pack the back window of their cars with Beanie Babies. But the abnegation of responsibility is the antithesis of manliness. And yes, that's how adults are supposed to talk.

So how can we become a men again and reverse this pussification?

I do not know.

A new study says that Republicans are happier with their marriages. At the risk of sounding self-congratulatory, this is completely predictable. If you believe (as Republicans do) that marriage is:

1. A sacred covenant
2. A lifelong vow
3. The fundamental building block of society

...marriage will be important to you, you'll take it seriously, and you'll do it better. If you believe (as Democrats do) that marriage is primarily:

1. A vehicle for grand social experiments.
2. A temporary arrangement that should be able to be dissolved at any time for any reason.

...then we shouldn't be surprised when your marriage isn't nearly as successful as the person who views it as a sacred, lifelong covenant upon which (collectively) the fate of our entire society rests. Actions follow beliefs.

Specifically, Democrats don't think marriage is important, and that translates to them not viewing their own marriage as being nearly as significant as Republicans do. It isn't remotely surprising that this produces measurably worse outcomes.

Last fall, there was a really bad car accident just a few miles from where we live. The road at this particular place winds back and forth, and is quite narrow. However, it is paved, which leads some people to think that they can take the turns too fast. Well one day, a car came around the bend so fast, (a fancy sports car, no less, reported to be going WAY over the speed limit,) that it veered into the on coming lane in order to make the turn. Sadly, another family of adults was in a car in that very lane, right when the guy went into their lane. A head on collision resulted.

The crash was so bad, that the bodies were thrown from the cars. So much blood was lost from their injuries, that the dark stains covered three car lengths long of pavement on one side, and another car length on the other side of the road.

We came upon the accident scene, right as the tow trucks came to remove all the car parts.

There was so much blood there, that it pooled in places where the road had sunk.

My kids gasped as we passed the accident scene, and I figured it was because they had seen the multitude of car pieces along the side, all smashed up. (Neither car was left, just car parts.) But instead, one of them spoke up for the others and said “mom, those people who spilled their blood on that pavement were NOT believers!”

I thought the comment kind of odd, so I asked them, “How can you tell?”

“Demons are there. They are attracted to all the spilled blood.” At this, all the kids gave their nod of agreement.

“But how can you tell if they were believers or not?”

The child who had spoken just shrugged. “I just know.”
