So I and my team at Eden Decoded decided to give you a high quality website form the very beginning: the best that we could afford to give even though it hurts a little bit to do so. And yes, it does cost to have your own dedicated server and extra cyber security to ward off hackers and other potential problems. But the best things always do.

”But, dude, they were gay.“

That was the response from a young collegiate after I shared a devotional on David and Jonathan with a group of Christian college men years ago. Such was the firestorm that followed. Several guys approached me asking why I would argue that Christian men take a page from David and Jonathan. ”They were gay,“ these guys said.

”Were they?“ I responded. ”Where in the story do you see that?“ They pointed out part of the passage from which I’d been teaching – ”the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul“ (1 Sam. 18:1-5) – and stated that there must be some homosexual context.

I’ve consistently encountered such misunderstanding, as well as bold-faced attempts to hijack David and Jonathan for the sake of normalizing (and wrongly biblicizing) homosexual relationships. There are literally books on the subject. These allegations are based on a cursory reading of the Bible’s description of David and Jonathan being characterized by ”love,“ a knitting of souls and their making of covenant with each other.

But there are few better examples of biblical truth colliding against modern cultural views than in Jonathan’s love for David. Their relationship defied social norms and carried political ramifications – but not in a homosexual manner.

These were two faithful men concerned for God’s good and well versed in the Scriptures. They loved God’s law and plan for relationships. To force a homosexual explanation upon Jonathan and David ignores everything we know of them.

If you choose to hang your ideological hat on the use of the word ”love,“ know that the exact same word (in Hebrew and English) is used to describe all of Israel and Judah’s love for David (1 Sam.18:16). Was the entire nation involved in some romantic tryst with David? Certainly not.

Just verses later, the same word describes the feelings of David’s wife toward him. There are ambiguities and nuances with the Hebrew word ahab (love) as much as there are in our English interpretations of the word ”love.“ It doesn’t always refer to eros. To force it upon David and Jonathan isn’t true to the text or intent.

As for David and Jonathan themselves, a godly friendship and more are on display. Just not the ”more“ that homosexual agendas would have you think.

Jonathan, King Saul’s own son and warrior prince of Israel, seems the most likely and right choice to assume the throne of Israel after his father. But Jonathan is aware at the time of their meeting that David is God’s choice to be king. Jonathan’s response is not one of suspicion but of spiritual unity. He heard David recount God’s power to slay the giant Goliath. Upon David’s testimony of this battle, Jonathan’s spirit was attached (”knit“) to David’s in alliance, and they felt they were one – spiritual brothers under the heavenly King.

Such selflessness and spiritual friendship is impossible apart from God’s irrevocably changing a heart. Homosexuality is not about the selfless love on display in David and Jonathan, but is at its core a lust concerned with worshiping the form of someone who mirrors yourself in body and form.

David and Jonathan show us that redeemed men don’t need sex to relate to one another. Apart from laying down our prizes and armaments before God’s choice King, not one of us can ever hold fast to what is good, nor love each other with brotherly affection and outdo one another in honor (Rom. 12:9-10). It is the common bond of Jesus Christ that can alone lead men to genuine love.

Read on in 1 Samuel to see the truth behind David and Jonathan and how their relationship played out. They had an honorable, intimate and God-revering friendship centered not on themselves but on the God who keeps covenant with those who love Him and keep His commands.

If homoerotic overtones are to be the new norm applied to male friendships and affection in this young century, we men of God need the godly truth about David and Jonathan to stand in stark contrast against a sexually misguided and increasingly corrupted cultural view of male relationships.

And what were kids doing then, before school became mandatory? Working at the same jobs their parents worked in. They didn't have a choice or future. They didn't think about what they wanted to be when they grew up. They knew what they were going to be because they didn't have any other skills but the ones taught by their parents. That's how "old money" stayed rich, while they poor stayed poor and uneducated. Americans are wondering why immigrants are taking our jobs. Because they are more educated and qualified for these jobs! They took their education seriously. Sure, you don't need a college degree to be important, but at least take advantage of every opportunity handed to you and strive to be the best you can be with whatever you find yourself in. By slacking off, being disrespectful, and making a fool of yourself, you're wasting your time, the teacher's time, and wasting resources and opportunities. You may not go to the best school, but that doesn't mean you can't learn ANYTHING from it.?

Here the judge has left the confines of law to enter the confines of theology. She is, by asserting her own beliefs about what does and does not constitute a religion, establishing the Church of Judge Karen Mullins. She thinks religion is just going to church, singing hymns, and expressing beliefs, but not in actually PRACTICING those beliefs.

She is asserting that a religion may not define as sin anything the state or mere judge defines as permissible and the faithful must perform any act the state permits merely because another person requests it, putting the faith or lack thereof of a third party ahead of the faith of the business owner. Now, it’s one thing for a government to prohibit a religious practice deemed harmful to other individual’s inalienable rights [those rights upon which government is not allowed to infringe ] but quite another for a government to require the religious to commit a sin by active participation in or by facilitating others in sinning so others’ feelings won’t be hurt.

The judge is also failing to recognize that in some protestant churches, whatever vocation we find ourselves in is not merely a job but an act of faith done foremost for the glory of God. Some may, with clean consciences, decide that by doing excellent work for everyone they are witnessing, but the consciences of others just as cleanly may lead them to conclude they would be aiding others in sin and thus they refuse this work. The judge is putting her conscience ahead of all others.

She is forcing a provider of nonessential services to abandon their faith and join her newly fabricated cult or face persecution. She’s also defining what does not constitute a sin by declaring that anything government declares is legal cannot be a sin.

I thought when I asked more of you for help that more of you would actually show up to help. It truly saddens me that only a few have made the effort. I haven't asked you for much: just enough to keep the Eden Decoded website from going offline. But you seem totally unconcerned.

You could've given $5, $3, $10 - SOMETHING. But to totally ignore my calls for help or pretend to be offended that I would dare ask you to give reveals an extremely selfish attitude on the part of those who only come here to get but never give when they have the chance to be a blessing to someone else.

For the past few years I've freely poured my heart and soul into this page, into my articles and into the many ebooks I've created: often paying to boost my posts out of my own pocket just to get past the FB filters that would've prohibited more of you from hearing my messages in the first place.

And though I charge for my ebooks - which I have every right to do - I always make room for you to get them at a bargain, even giving you the opportunity to pay whatever you wanted for those ebooks. Remember all those 'pay what you want' specials?

Now it's my hour of need: and you've gone silent on me! Whether you feel justified in doing so when I've ministered to your needs so freely over the months and years - I'll leave that between you and God to figure out. But the need is still there even after all of my asking and pleading.

They say you can always know where you really stand with people when you ask them for money. Money has a way of revealing hearts and motives: which is why Jesus equated love for it with love for God. Money is the only thing that challenges our hearts for God's affection.

I fear that too many of you love money too much: if that were not the case you would've given by now! There's no way I could've seen any of you asking for help as much as you've seen me asking these past few months, and ignored those pleas for this long without giving something.

Only a stony heart devoid of godly affection and filled with the cares of this life could do that.

Maybe more of you will give after reading this, and maybe not. Most of you will go on just being offended like you already are, until my next viral article comes out. Then you'll be right there gobbling that up to. Give or don't give: doesn't matter to me either way at this point. My fantasy is over as I see exactly how I need to proceed moving forward with this work God has entrusted to me. I feel like Paul:

"Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, "It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles." Acts 13:46

And in another place he had a similar remark:

"But when they opposed and insulted him, Paul shook the dust from his clothes and said, "Your blood is upon your own heads--I am innocent. From now on I will go preach to the Gentiles." Acts 18:6

We have had men show up in the abortuary parking lot to try to dissuade their wives / girlfriends from aborting their child. When the deathscorts find out that the men are going to try to talk their gals out of it, they tell them that if they do not leave the property immediately, they will charge them with trespassing. Because ... "pro-choice." The men end up on the sidewalk with us, pleading for their children's lives.

One time this situation happened, and the woman crossed the parking lot as her man begged for the child's life from our sidewalk. The woman laughed and yelled "I'm gonna kill our baby!" She went inside. Interestingly, we found out later that the woman might NOT have aborted the child - it was all to play on the man's emotions. We never got the final story.
